Russia's Time is Running short.
Day by day, Russia's ill-gotten war is making them broke.
This Summer has been hot and heavy for the Russian-Ukrainian War. The Russians' misfortunes really took off when they felt they had the upper hand. They don’t. In fact, Russia’s upper hand has disintegrated. They don’t know how to improvise, adapt, and overcome. The Ukrainians are not giving up. Even as JD Vance is trying in vain to get this war done (on Putin’s terms)…the Ukrainians, and most of the Europeans do not trust Putin or the Kremlin, or the lawmakers in Russia. Let’s go over why Russia’s on the cliff’s edge…backwards…and is about to take a step backwards into the abyss.
Project Spiderweb.
On June 1, 2025, the Ukrainians had launched a very audacious attack against Russia deep inside of their borders. They reasoned that they couldn’t just send drones in straight out. They knew Russian Air defenses would try to shoot down all of the drones they had. Instead they had decided the drones would be made in Russia in a piecemeal fashion. Once the Drones were assembled, they also in secret had special trucks made with Rooftops that could retract and attack their targets. When they did attack their targets, it was devastating.
They have actually used this attack to go into Russia’s military zones where they thought would make the most damage. Russia, however, believed that they were safe since they had one of their air corps safe deep inside Russia and in the Arctic circle. This didn’t play out as the Ukrainians have targeted Olenya airbase, Belaya air base, Dyagilevo air base, and so on.
Here is the video of the Ukrainians attacking a major part of the Russian Air Corps. This attack has taken out about one third of the Russian Planes. Unlike the Ukrainians, the Russians cannot easily repair their planes under sanctions. These planes are lost for good. It’s not going to get any better for the Russians at this point, whereas two days later…the Ukrainians used a submarine drone to attack the Kerch Bridge. The 19.31 kilometer (12 Mile) Bridge has been a thorn for the Ukrainians since 2014. This is a major artery for Russia to get goods, people, and troops to Crimea. This makes it a legitimate military target. Remember in the fall of 2022, the bridge was attacked by explosives when a truck went over the bridge.
Here on June 3, 2025, the Ukrainians have used an underwater drone to plant explosives onto the pillars of the Kerch Straight Bridge. Here, as you can see the explosive was mighty, and weakened the bridge some more. The Ukrainians have given Russian civilians fair warning to leave Crimea through this bridge. They realize that once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. Also the Ukrainians have made sure that there actually would be ways to attack and take advantage of the lapses in Russian judgement. This was what kicked off the summer of attacks from the Ukrainians.
We know that Russia is trying to protect the bridge, but we need to face facts. They’ve made the same blunder Hitler did in World War II. That is, they’re splitting up in multiple fronts, and are being forced into kill corridors. These attacks from the drones have caused headaches for the normal Russian citizens. It’s only going to get worse for them.
Russia’s Economy Has Crashed.
It’s no secret that Russia’s economy has crashed since the start of the war. It’s also no secret that Russia has been propping up their war machines by illegal means. For example trying to get components for their weapons from China and Iran, and having China and India buy energy at bargain basement prices. Let me explain. Russia’s economy chiefly depends on very few things…however chief among them is energy. In fact Russia was able to use energy to blackmail the EU to do what they wanted them to do. With the start of the war, the Europeans decided to cut Russia off from Gas supplies. This in turn has taken away a bargaining chip that Russia had. Also Russia has also taken a hit with sanctions that the EU and NATO countries have placed on them. That also included being booted from the SWIFT banking services, and having a lot of western businesses leave Russia.
Even if the Russian Federation was able to take over and nationalize those businesses that left…the damage was done. When outside investments dry up then it’s a lot harder for smaller businesses to continue on. This is very true in Russia where the prices of staples have skyrocketed. Inflation is still happening, and hyper inflation can happen should the interest rates be lowered. Another problem for the average Russian is that the government is trying to censor reality. That cannot happen, as people can see the prices of goods and services rising out of control. This in turn causes them to close their wallets, and their pocket books to only spend on the basics.
This knock-on effect is psychological. The Ukrainians have been targeting energy infrastructure inside Russia and Crimea, and also the rail transport infrastructure to make sure that military materiel does not get to the front lines as quickly. Also Russia has no plan B to get out of the doldrums once this war is over, since it will need to end eventually. With this, Russians who have lost their jobs are having a tougher time trying to find new work.
This in turn is making the real unemployment a lot higher than what Russia is putting out. Remember, Russia wants to project power when they know they’re weak. They’re trying to project that everything’s fine, when the house is burning down around them. Also because this is a war-time economy…the Russian Government is trying to get money to help fund this war. This is draining the economy and the banking system to the point where it will break.
Russia’s Banking System Under Pressure.
Russia’s banking system is under tremendous pressure. From the start of the war, and the start of the sanctions, the Russians have been trying to finance this war anyway they can. Russia decided that banks will have to give hyper favorable loans to the companies doing their war effort. It doesn’t matter if the companies default or not, they will get the cheap money. This has made things worse for businesses and people outside of the insider’s club.
Normally a Bank would take a look at the risk assessment of people borrowing money, and make their decisions on that. In short, no bank would ever lend out money knowing that they can’t get it back. With the insanely high interest rates, consumers cannot get loans and credit easily. Businesses also cannot get loans and credit easily either unless they’re in that “in group” of Putin. Also banks make their money on loans and loan repayments, and interest. This is true of any bank world wide. They make money off of the loans, loan repayments, and interest on said loans. Also banks make money off of investments as well.
Russian banks under sanctions cannot make money off of international investments. Nor can they make money off of domestic investments, because more and more businesses are going defunct. As for those that are still up, they’re in the inner circle getting hyper favorable loans with hyper favorable terms. The banks realize that this will destroy them in the end, but it’s forced on them by the Russian Government to fund the war effort…off the books.
Russia also is trying to limit people to how much per day they can withdraw their money. They realize that if people have a run on the banks, then things will get a lot worse. Also as of recently, Russia has allowed the FSB to seize any account “under fraud security” to take the funds and close the account. This makes an already tense situation worse, as ordinary Russian’s savings aren’t enough to cover their obligations, including rent/mortgages, insurance, staples, and so on. As once this war ends, the economy will be in a crater.
New Attacks are continuing.
Even from the start of June 2025, there have been sustained attacks not only on the front lines, but behind Russia. The Ukrainians have made sure that they’re sending a message that Russia can get hit back. First, the Ukrainians actually have been continuing to attack not only energy infrastructures, but rail infrastructures, at unprotected points.
Also in Crimea, the Ukrainians (and partisans against Russia) have been attacking radar stations meaning that Russia is flying blind. Russia’s air defenses are stretched thin, and are being attacked with regularity. In fact, the Ukrainians have actually struck staging places, and Russian Drone manufacturing facilities making it harder and harder for the Russians to use Shaheeds.
On top of that, The Ukrainians have brought the Bayraktar drones out of storage, and it’s making things a lot easier. Bluntly, the Ukrainians are using all of their tools at their disposal to force Russia to leave. It also helps the Ukrainians that Russians tactics have failed and failed hardcore.
Time is Running Short for Putin.
Time is running short for Putin, his cronies, and his enablers. This is a fact. The war will have to end. The Russian elite are trying to leave Russia with their ill-gotten gains. Some have escaped, but others were not so lucky. Remember what I’ve said, Russia is in bad shape when it comes to their finances. Russia wants a finite amount of money to keep this war going. With zero tax revenues coming in, and more and more people out of work…it’s impossible. Also Putin realizes that the Russian Population sees the truth with their own eyes, and even Russian Military Bloggers are calling out Putin.
The Russian Government however, doesn't know how to adapt, improvise, and overcome. Instead they fall back on purges and repression, and Soviet-style surveillance. It’s been reported by Jason Jay Smart of the Kyiv Post that the Russian Government is requiring a buggy app to be forced on all phones to even talk with the Government and to make appointments. This app is spyware because it will record audio, video and keystrokes (even if the sender didn’t send anything). This just shows Russia is afraid of what’s to come.
Also there is Internal Russian resistance inside, and they want but one thing. They want to bring down Putin and the oligarchy and the Mafia once and for all, and to reform a government that’s actually for the people, and not the in-group. This resistance also has been helping out the Ukrainians as they know the assignment. Finally, even Russian propaganda trying to tell people “this is fine” is falling flat. Reality does not bend to propaganda, and people tend to see what’s in front of their own eyes, and their eyes are telling them that the price of their staples are going up, they’re losing their savings, and it's harder and harder to find a job.
While there is word that Putin wants to recruit people from St. Petersburg and Moscow for the military that will sink him. The people in these two cities know there’s a war on, and don’t want to participate in it. It’s indifference at best. However, the people in the cities are starting to realize this war has been affecting them and will continue to affect them. Especially with constant closures of airports and delays of flights.
Putin’s time is running short, and there’s nothing he can do about it. Also Putin knows that once he goes down, so do his propped up idiots world wide. This is why he’s trying to buy time. However, Zelensky, the Ukrainians, and the Europeans have decided they’re not going to play that game any longer. Putin must be destroyed and humiliated on the battlefield in order for there to be peace. The Russian citizens must also take responsibility and reform their government from the top down. Thank you all for reading and I’ll see you in the next one.

Thank you, Brother Rob, for pointing out that, though this has been a bad year, the implosion of Russia remains an uncontested bright spot. Looking forward to the shock of the Western press when Russia collapses as a nation-state for the second time in my life.
Mr. Palmer, thank you for your points.
I worry Russia can borrow from China for cheap, prolonging the misery of the war.
Europe can end the war quickly by allowing Ukraine to join NATO and invoking Article 5. Ukraine dies for Europe to be saved. Security guarantees mean nothing. Only Ukraine’s ability to wreck Russia’s gas prices and ability to profit mean anything.
