Sabotaging the Dems Isn't the Flex You Think It Is.
The Leftists are going into their playbook to try to sabotage 2026 because of one day.
Good day to you all. I know the SOTU…well…the swill, will be tonight in prime time. Already I know there are agitators out there going on about how the Dem politicians should do this, or that or the other. I also know, sadly and predictably they’re coming onto Bluesky announcing that if the Dems don’t dance like their monkeys they’re going to do the thing that got Trump elected…knowing full well that 2026 is a critical year for the Party in General.
Listen, I get it…y’all want the Dems to protest or walk out, or so-on. However, the leftists do not realize that there’s a thing called perception. Yes the Dems can make the noise by walking out…but do you think a hostile media and the GOP would spin it as heroic. No they would spin it as totally opposite. Look at the Texas Dems who went to DC, only to fail to stop a bad voting bill that passed in 2021.
Also leftists have actually sabotaged the Dems on two very distinct and separate occasions. That is, in 2016, instead of voting for Hillary Clinton, the more qualified candidate, just enough voted for Jill Stein and Gary Johnson to hand Trump the victory the first time around. The second time around was more fatal, as they handed over the administration to Trump in 2024 by a margin of 1.5%.
They decided that instead of voting for the more qualified Kamala Harris, they decided to latch on to the dangerous trope (that they’re still hanging on to) that somehow, she and Biden were responsible for Netanyahu’s actions, knowing full well that both were working their ass off to get a peace deal. Bluntly, Trump did what Nixon did in 1968 to keep the Vietnam War going, and what Reagan did in 1979 to keep the hostages in Iran there to win against Jimmy Carter.
Withholding your vote, or not helping isn’t a flex.
I have seen this trope on Bluesky and even on Twitter back in the day, and even the old Yahoo Comments section. That is, I have seen leftists say “I’m withholding my vote unless the Democrats do this thing!” They know that “this thing” is being a single-issues voter. This should come as no surprise that at tonight’s SOTU, the leftists are using the “If they don’t walk out, then I’m not going to vote for them!”
This is the worst possible thing. You know damn well that the GOP and the hostile corporate press will spin this as Dems running away from the problems. Also by them walking away…that loses the leverage that they have and they are worse off than they were a day ago, or a week ago.
There are some who have decided not to show up, but it still is a bad idea for them to walk out en masse. You need to think about how the Dems are protesting. Also they’re bringing the wrongfully fired federal workers as their guests of honor, which is a bigger statement than just walking away and leaving them high and dry.
Withholding donations isn’t a flex either.
Yes, I have heard this trope very clearly in the past days of leftists saying "I’m not going to donate to any race unless the dems do as I say!” Again the Democratic party are not your monkeys to dance while you do the organ grinder. They’re humans and politicians who are there to be policy makers for all the folks in their state and districts. Also realize that for the stuff you want them to do…it costs money. There’s a lot of people who would gladly volunteer their time, but in total there’s paid positions…and the DNC are not going to allow them to work for free. Also keep in mind that the DNC at the end of the day needs cash for the following things.
TV, Radio, and Print Ads. This is still the bread and butter of both the DNC, and the RNC. Even digital and streaming ads are hyper important. Yes they have social media like Bluesky and such…but the old fashioned way still works.
Billboards. Yes believe it or not billboards are still used. Yes they cost a lot of money, however unlike TV, radio, and Print ads, Billboards are static, and they can keep the message going for a very long time. Even traveling on the high way, people can glance at it and it will spark a conversation
State and local races. Yes state and local races actually do matter. In fact in 2025, the Dems are winning these races…and we have 4 important races. The Wisconsin Supreme Court Seat, PA HD-35 Special Election (March 25, 2025), Two Florida US House Races, and so-on. Also these races must be funded for the same reasons. Staff, ads, transportation, and so forth.
Withholding the funds hurts the DNC a lot more than it helps. Here’s the tea, the people are the bigger donors to the Democratic party than the GOP. In fact the GOP has their sugar daddies that the DNC does not have. Also these are the rules the DNC has to play in with Citizens United v. Holder With which the US Supreme Court gutted McCain-Feingold to reign in campaign finances.
This is beyond lazy if you won’t even try to spread the message.
Yes, this is beyond lazy to say “I’m not going to help out!” or threaten to do so, or make a bold proclamation that people are going to sit out because somebody isn’t going to do the bidding of the leftists. Here’s something to understand…the Democrats are 100% for progressive policies…y’all just got lazy and want the instant gratification of the social media/digital age. That’s now how it works. Politics and policy are continual things that requires everyone’s attention and time.
Also I realize that not everyone can go out and volunteer…and that’s fine. However even these folks are making an effort to do what they can such as doing post cards to voters, watching their PEG channels, or attending meetings, and so on. Also anybody who is absolute in saying “Nobody will do this that or the other!” is being an active vote suppressor.
Also the Democratic party does have a message…it’s up to us to spread that message. You have to remember the entirety of Biden’s term, the corporate m mainstream media had decided that they were going to be hostile. So if you wanna spread the message of what the Dems are doing, do so. If you wanna help, do so. Nobody’s stopping you, and you’re not getting a gold engraved invitation either.
Your sabotage is active voter suppression.
Here’s the things leftists have to understand. All of these rantings and demands is active voter suppression. In fact, this is something that’s a gift to the GOP because they don’t have to do much of anything. Now I will say it’s beyond frustrating because there are a lot of us who have to fight upstream of this constantly. It gets exhausting to the point where hard lines have been taken against leftists.
Also these people who proclaim they’re going to openly sabotage are coming from a place either of ignorance, misinformation, privilege, or all three. If it’s ignorance, or misinformation then yes education should be at the order of the day. However if it’s from a place of privilege, then we have a problem.
Also this active sabotage is a grift. Yes, this is a grift…and that too isn’t a flex you think it is. These people who have an active voice to make a difference, but yet…they’re using this for evil, and this too is frustrating as hell. Yes I get people do this as a business, but you have to remember they too are bound by the basic rules of journalism rather they realize it or not.
A message to the leftists.
It’s not a flex to say you’re going to withhold funds, withhold your vote, protest vote, be an absolutist of saying people will turn away and so forth. In fact that is active voter suppression. You want to make some noise…put your hat in the game. Contrary to popular belief, participating, and trying to play well with others is the fastest way to get your goals across.
Also if you think the system is broken…then why not do what Jamal Bowman and Cori Bush did…run for office. Yes they were in the House f or a short time before people voted them out, but that’s a lot more than what you’re doing now. In fact…why don’t you run for a local race and see if you still have that kind of smoke.
Also keep in mind you might lose. This is how it is, somebody has to win races, and somebody has to lose races. Nina Turner has lost against Shontel Brown (D OH-11) twice, and to now Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) when she ran against him for Secretary of State. Yes, your participation if you want to make changes is mandatory. Even AOC, realizes this and she has been effective as a member of the House of Reps.
Bluntly, instead of being active vote suppressors, and doom merchants…actually participate. Yes, if you want to make those changes, then you have to put your skin in the game. If not you will be looked at with scorn. Also remember this if you fuck around and actually win office…you officially are now on the boat where you actually have to do something, and not coast by on your rhetoric.
You read my mind. Definitely sharing this far and wide!
Thank you for this. I couldn’t agree more.
