Stop the Fearmongering.

It's time to stop the fearmongering.

On June 7th, 2025 it broke that Tom Homan has said he’s going to activate the Los Angeles National Guard to quell peaceful protests against ICE. Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) called it out as a cynical ploy to inflame already high emotions to try to catch violence. Even here on Substack I’m seeing the same things about Martial Law and so-on. The thing is, Los Angeles is a large City that has quick access to law enforcement to get going at a moment’s notice. This includes the Los Angeles Police Department, the Police Departments in the suburbs, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol with the California Attorney General’s office. Now to review, let’s debunk some myths right away.

First, Per the Insurrection Act, there has to be an actual emergency to the point where the US National Guard must be called in to help civil authorities are overwhelmed. Also keep in mind that there’s not that many people in the US Military (including tghe reserve and Guard units, and Law Enforcement. In fact major cities like Los Angeles has less police officers than they do for the entire population. That said, however, even the National Guard is constrained by state and federal law into what they’re allowed to do and what they’re not allowed to do.

That is, on the June 7th, 2025 breaking stories, I’m seeing serious fearmongering about what’s going on in Los Angeles. I wish to say that the citizens of Los Angeles ultimately aren’t going to give into the incitement, nor are they going to give into intimidation. Because we know that Trump is doing this because he’s trying to deflect from how poorly things are going for him right at the moment, and Stephen Miller is coming out demanding 3,000 ICE arrests a day, which is impossible.

I do get disappointed with progressive/democratic/left voices who fearmonger for no reason. They too are under the cannons of journalistic ethics. We cannot under any circumstances fearmonger for clicks, and to cause people to freeze up and not do anything. We have to inform, but not cause panic. What’s happened on June 6, and 7th 2025 is a reminder of that.

Here’s the article I did on April 30th, 2025 on how impossible it is to declare Martial Law here in the USA. I go off of evidence, deductive reasoning, common sense, and logic. Also one of the commentators on this article lays out how impossible it is for it to happen, how slow the response would be, and how stretched thin the Military would get. Also there has to be an actual reason for invoking the Insurrection Act in the USA. For example the last time it was invoked was in 1992, with Governor Pete Wilson activating the Guard in Los Angeles. If you remember four white LAPD officers were acquitted for the brutal beating of Rodney King, even though there was video evidence of what happened. Also when things calmed down and eople worked to rebuild, the emergency was over.

Secondly, what’s pissing me off is that we got commentators that are pushing out the same doomer, defeatist BS. As I’ve said, even for citizen journalists…that’s a breach of trust, and is a major malpractice. Even if it’s not your area of expertise, you still got to actually go out of your way and make sure you have the information correct, and stick with the basic 6 questions.

Now, I know you all have one major question…what if anybody from the National Guard were to use violent tactics on peaceful protestors? This is a legitimate question that can be summed up simply: They will be facing state charges. After the Kent State incident in the mid 1970s, the images of the National Guard shooting unarmed protestors unnerved Americans. The same holds true here. Also with that, the UCMJ may well be invoked and those in the Guard will be brought up to court martial, and it’s going to mess them up if convicted in the Court Martial, or the civilian courts.

Remember when news breaks, there’s often a fog of war, and we do not know what’s going on, or we do not have enough information. That said, however, even Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) has made clear that trouble makers would be spending quality time in the Los Angeles County Jail system if they want to start something. As for the timing of this…I’m going to say straight out it’s a deflection from Trump to try to cover for the fact that Musk made a fool of him.

That said…make sure you use media literacy, and logic training. Also make sure that you read beyond the headlines, and figure out what what’s true and what’s false. It also would help to not share, or repost anything that even remotely smacks of sensationalism, or doomerism. Like I said, cooler heads will ultimately prevail, and the fearmongering will stop. Also there will be a lot of protests that will happen anyway on June 14th, and there’s nothing Trump can do to stop it.

As for you citizen journalists…we’re depending on you to actually make sure you can give correct, accurate information. You don’t have to get it first, also you don’t have to clickbait. You just have to just do the basic 6. Also if you don’t know, or if you don’t have all the info, that’s okay. It’s better to have all the correct info later, than it is to have egg on your face sooner. This is one of the articles I had to do because fearmongering is a lot worse in the social media age, than it was even back when I was a kid, and social media wasn’t thing. Remember y’all, anxiety and fear gets you nowhere. Remember, action is the antidote for anxiety and fear. Thanks for reading, and be safe at all protests.
